As education becomes increasingly important in today’s society, it is crucial that all individuals have access to the same opportunities. Unfortunately, students from minority backgrounds often face financial barriers when pursuing higher education. To help alleviate this burden, numerous scholarships have been created specifically for minority students. In this article, we have compiled a comprehensive list of 48 scholarships that are available for minority students. These scholarships cover a wide range of fields and are offered by various organizations, making it easier for students from different backgrounds to find financial aid for their education.
Moss Adams Foundation Scholarship – $1,000
The Educational Foundation for Women In Accounting (EFWA) offers the Moss Adams Foundation Scholarship to women who wish to earn a degree in accounting. Applicants must be a minority woman, be returning to school as a current or re-entry junior or senior, or be a woman pursuing her fifth-year requirement through either general studies or within a graduate program.
Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything Scholarship – $5,000
The Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything Scholarship is awarded to esthetics students who identify as Black, indigenous or persons of color (BIPOC). Applicants must be enrolled in an esthetics program that leads to licensure in the United States or Canada.
Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship Program – $5,000
Each year, Brown and Caldwell, an engineering consulting firm focused on the U.S. environmental sector, offers a Minority Scholarship to financially support students pursuing careers in the environmental profession. Each applicant must identify as a member of a minority group, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, be enrolled in their junior or senior year of undergraduate study or in graduate study at an accredited college or university, have a declared major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences, and meet a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Frank M. Snowden Jr. Undergraduate Scholarships – Up to $4,500
The Society for Classical Studies (SCS) offers the Frank M. Snowden Jr. Undergraduate Scholarships for students who are majoring or minoring in Classics and are from a historically underrepresented ethnic or racial minority group in North America. African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Native American, and Pacific-Islander American students are all eligible.
NMF Primary Care Leadership Program (PCLP) – $5,000
The GE-NMF Primary Care Leadership Program provides future healthcare workers with a chance to step into U.S. community health centers, where they engage with mentors in leadership training and team-based activities. Applicants must have proof of U.S. citizenship or a DACA approval letter, be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school or graduate-level nursing or physician assistant program, be a minority student or a socioeconomically disadvantaged student, show leadership traits, and be committed to working in medically underserved communities. Winners receive a $5,000 stipend to cover travel, living, and lodging expenses.
FARE Diversity Scholars Program – $10,000
Established in 2022, Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) has partnered with NMF to develop the FARE Diversity Scholars Program. This program is designed to provide students from underrepresented backgrounds with opportunities to deeply engage in food allergy research to build the pipeline of diverse physicians and researchers who are committed to investigating, evaluating, and addressing the socioeconomic factors that impact healthcare access for food allergy patients. Applicants must have proof of U.S. citizenship or a DACA approval letter, be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school or graduate-level public health school located in the U.S., be a minority student or a socioeconomically disadvantaged student, be interested in healthcare delivery to medically underserved communities, and be interested in food allergy research and education.
NSCS Scholarship for Minority Students in STEM – $2,500
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) Scholarship for Minority Students in STEM is annually awarded to four minority students majoring in STEM fields. Applicants must be NSCS members and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipients are chosen based on their commitment to academics, leadership, and service.
NATAS Inclusion Scholarship – $10,000
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) — known best for its Emmy Awards — annually awards, through its Foundation, the NATAS Inclusion Scholarship to a student pursuing a career in any aspect of the television industry, who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color.
AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students – Up to $5,000
Offered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students is a renewable award that is annually provided to minority students interested in the accounting profession. Applicants must be members of an ethnic minority group, be full-time students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in an accounting or accounting-related major at a public or private, not-for-profit four-year college or university in the United States or territories, have completed at least 30 semester hours of college coursework, including at least 6 semester hours in accounting by the end of spring semester, be AICPA Student Affiliate members, be U.S. citizens, demonstrate financial need, and meet a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
CVS Health Foundation Health Care Careers Scholarship – Up to $20,000
Administered by UNCF, The CVS Health Foundation Health Care Careers Scholarship is a five-year program launched in 2021 to help minority students pursuing health care careers pay for their junior and senior years of undergraduate study. Applicants must be second-semester sophomores at the time of application and be juniors at the time of award, be Black or Latinx, be enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States, demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in the health care sector, have completed the FAFSA, demonstrate unmet financial need, be pursuing a major in pharmacy, nursing, business management, biology, biochemistry, finance, operations/supply chain, data analytics, information technology, actuary, or human resources, and meet a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
American Association of Blacks in Energy Scholarship – Up to $5,000
The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) offers scholarships for underrepresented minority students (Black or African American, Hispanic, and Native American) studying energy-related fields, including business, a physical science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Each year, 13 scholarships are awarded: 12 scholarships of $3,000 and one scholarship of $5,000 — the $5,000 award is renewable for up to 4 years if the recipient maintains the required minimum GPA andan eligible major). Applicants must be a high school senior who intends to enroll next semester in an accredited college or university; have an unweighted academic average of B or better (3.0 on 4.0 scale); be pursuing a major in business, one of the physical sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics field; and identify as an underrepresented minority (Black or African American, Hispanic, or Native American).
Albert W. Dent Scholarship – $5,000
Administered by the Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Albert W. Dent Scholarship is annually awarded to minority and LGBTQ students enrolled in their final year of a healthcare management graduate program. Applicants must be “racially/ethnically diverse students” enrolled full-time in a healthcare management graduate program, and expect to graduate between Sept. 1, 2024 and Aug. 31, 2025. Additionally, applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents or Canadian citizens. Preference is given to Student Associates of ACHE.
ACS Scholars Program – $1,000-$5,000
American Chemical Society Scholarships are annually awarded to minority students who are interested in pursuing careers in chemistry-related science. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, be African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian, be graduating high school seniors or current undergraduate students, plan to major or currently be majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
Ralph W. Shrader Graduate Diversity Scholarship – $3,000
Offered by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), the Ralph W. Shrader Graduate Diversity Scholarship is annually awarded to high-performing graduate STEM students who are members of underrepresented demographics. Applicants must be women or minority students “enrolled in their second semester and at least two semester-equivalent courses per semester at an accredited college or university in the United States.” Additionally, applicants must be U.S. citizens, meet a minimum 3.5 GPA requirement, and be pursuing a “STEM/hard science” degree.
AFCEA Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship – $3,000
The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) annually offers the AFCEA Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship. Applicants must be women or minority students, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, be at least second-year college students enrolled full-time in a four-year college or university, be majoring in STEM fields, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement. Students attending HBCUs are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted starting mid-January.
Hyatt Hotels Fund for Minority Lodging Management Students – $3,000
Offered by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) Foundation, the Hyatt Hotels Fund for Minority Lodging Management Students is a scholarship program established by Hyatt in 1988 to provide financial aid to minority students pursuing a degree in hotel management. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming fall and spring semesters, or just the fall semester if graduating this December, be pursuing a baccalaureate hospitality management major at a U.S. college or university, be at least a junior for the upcoming fall semester, be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident, and be a minority student (African-American, Hispanic, Native American/Alaskan, and Asian/Pacific Islander).
AIFS Diversity Achievement Scholarship – $5,000
The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) Diversity Scholarship is annually awarded to minority college and university students to help them study abroad. Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement and/or participate in community service activities.
Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships – Up to $5,000
The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) offers Worldstudio Scholarships that benefit underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students studying photography, illustration, and design disciplines in colleges and universities in the United States. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA and may be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
AMS Scholarship for Underserved Communities (formerly Minority Scholarship) – $6,000
The American Meteorological Society (AMS) offers scholarships for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who are planning to pursue a career in the atmospheric, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences (excluding marine biology). Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship Program (Master’s and Doctoral) – nan
Funded by a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship Program (IMFP) supports the training of ethnic minority graduate students who commit to significantly improving the quality of care provided to ethnic and racial minorities who have a mental or co-occurring mental and substance use disorder. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or noncitizen nationals; be enrolled in master’s or doctoral programs in psychology, nursing, social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, or substance use and addictions counseling; commit to enter careers in behavioral health services for ethnic and racial minorities who have a mental or co-occurring mental and substance use disorder immediately upon graduation. Applicants are not required to identify as ethnic minorities, but African Americans, Alaska Natives, American Indians, Asian-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders are especially encouraged to apply. Applications open in October each year.
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship – Up to $6,000
Offered by the California Teachers Association (CTA), the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship helps minority students become educators, school nurses, school counselors, or school therapists. Each applicant must be pursuing a degree, credential, or certification for a teaching-related career in public education at an accredited higher education institution, be enrolled for summer or fall semester of 2022, and be African American/Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic. Additionally, each applicant must be an active member of the CTA or the Student CTA or be the dependent child of an active, retired, or deceased CTA member. Members must live in California.
Journey Toward Ordained Ministry Scholarship – $5,000
The Journey Toward Ordained Ministry Scholarship is one of several scholarships offered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM), a United Methodist Church educational organization. This scholarship is reserved for undergraduate and graduate students who are of a racial or ethnic minority and are pursuing ordained ministry (deacon or elder). Applicants must be age 30 or under, have at least two years of membership in the United Methodist Church, and be enrolled in an institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Undergraduate students must have a minimum 2.85 GPA. Graduate students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Interested students must apply through the GBHEM general scholarship application. Application opens in January each year.
Expanding Representation in Geosciences (ERG) Scholarship – $1,500
The Expanding Representation in Geosciences (ERG) Scholarship is an annual award for minority undergraduate students who are interested in the geosciences. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a member of an underrepresented group, have taken at least two introductory geoscience courses, be enrolled in geoscience course for the upcoming semester, and be a current undergraduate student member of the Geological Society of America (GSA).
Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship – $10,000
Offered by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship recognizes minority students pursuing careers in government finance. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents and must be a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Eskimo/Aleut, Hispanic, Indian.
GRCF Miller Johnson West Michigan Diversity Law School Scholarship – $5,000
Administered by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation (GRCF), the Miller Johnson West Michigan Diversity Law School Scholarship is annually awarded to minority law students from the state. Applicants must be “students of color,” be accepted to or currently attending an accredited law school within the United States, be U.S. citizens, be permanent residents of Michigan, demonstrate financial need, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
GRCF Warner Norcross & Judd LLP Law School Scholarship – $5,000
Administered by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation (GRCF), the Warner Norcross & Judd LLP Law School Scholarship is annually awarded to minority law students with ties to Michigan. Applicants must be “students of color” who have been accepted to or are currently attending an accredited law school within the United States. Additionally, applicants must either be permanent residents of Michigan or attend law school in Michigan.
Raytheon Intelligence & Space Underrepresented Minorities in Cybersecurity Scholarship – $10,000
Administered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, the Raytheon Intelligence & Space Underrepresented Minorities in Cybersecurity Scholarship is annually awarded to three students from historically underrepresented minorities in STEM. Applicants must belong to a historically underrepresented minority in STEM, including but not limited to women, Black, Native American, Asian American & Pacific Islander, Hispanic, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities; be a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student (PhD students are excluded); be U.S. citizens; be pursuing a degree in cybersecurity, information security or similar field; meet a minimum 3.3 GPA requirement; be attending a college or university full-time or part-time; and be attending on-campus or online.
Federal Realty Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship – $5,000 (renewable for sophomores and juniors)
Offered by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Foundation, the Federal Realty Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship is annually awarded to minority undergraduate students interested in retail real estate or a related field. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, member of an underrepresented group, be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled at an accredited university, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
ICSC Graduate Diversity Scholarship – $5,000
The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Graduate Diversity Scholarship is awarded to minority graduate students committed to pursuing a career in retail real estate or a related field. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, member of an underrepresented racial or ethnic group, be a full-time graduate student enrolled at an accredited university, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
ICSC Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship – $5,000 (renewable for sophomores and juniors)
The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship is annually awarded to minority undergraduate students interested in retail real estate or a related field. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, member of an underrepresented racial or ethnic minority group, be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled at an accredited university, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship – Up to $30,000 (over 4 years)
The Jackie Robinson Foundation runs a four-year scholarship program that provides minority students with financial assistance, mentorship, and career guidance. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, plan to attend an accredited four-year institution in the United States, show leadership potential, be committed to community service, demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. citizen, have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21, and not possess a degree from a 2-or 4-year college. Applications open in September each year.
LAGRANT Foundation Graduate Scholarship – $3,750
Each year, the LAGRANT Foundation selects 20 minority graduate and Ph.D. scholarship recipients and sends them to New York City to participate in career building activities. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient, be African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American/Alaska Native, be a full-time student at a four-year, accredited institution within the United States, meet a minimum 3.2 GPA requirement, major in a field that has an emphasis in advertising, marketing, or public relations, and have at least a year of school left after the scholarship is awarded.
LMJ Scholarship – $10,000
The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MMCA), an organization that promotes the hiring of diverse lawyers, offers the LMJ scholarship to women and diverse students who have been accepted to an ABA-accredited law school and have an interest in corporate law. The scholarship provides $10,000 for winning students’ first year in law school and provides financial support, guidance, and access to a professional network.
2L Diversity Scholarship – $50,000
International law firm Milbank offers the 2L Diversity Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to law students who are members of historically underrepresented groups in the legal profession. This includes students who are of a racial or ethnic minority group, are differently abled, or are from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States; be enrolled at an ABA accredited law school with an expected graduation date of spring 2025; possess outstanding academic achievement, leadership ability, and excellent writing and interpersonal skills; and show active involvement in the community. Recipients are given a paid summer internship position and granted a $50,000 scholarship, payable in installments.
Morgan Stanley Richard B. Fisher Scholarship Program – Varies
Morgan Stanley’s Richard B. Fisher Scholarship is for minority students pursuing careers in finance. Applicants must be African American, Hispanic, Native American, or LGBT and be undergraduate sophomores or juniors at an accredited four-year college. To apply, applicants must indicate their eligibility on their application for the Summer Analyst Program.
Mutual of Omaha Actuarial Scholarship – $5,000
The Mutual of Omaha Actuarial Scholarship is annually awarded to minority students pursuing actuarial careers. Each applicant must be a member of a minority group, be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, recipient of asylee or refugee status, or a temporary resident under 1986 Amnesty Programs, be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student, be pursuing an actuarial or mathematics-related degree, meet a minimum GPA requirement of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale, have passed at least one actuarial exam, and be willing to relocate to Omaha for the summer.
NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors (Master’s) – $15,000
The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation’s Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors is open to graduate students pursuing degrees in addiction counseling. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, not work for a federal agency or receive any other federal funds (other than federal student loans or work-study), be enrolled full-time and be in good standing in an accredited master’s-level counseling program with a concentration in addictions, commit to obtaining an addictions counseling credential, demonstrate knowledge of and experience with underserved minority communities, and commit to provide substance abuse disorder services to those from underserved communities within one year after graduating and for at least two years after graduation.
NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Mental Health Counselors (Doctoral) – $20,000
The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation’s Minority Fellowship Program for Mental Health Counselors is open to students enrolled in doctoral-level counseling programs who are dedicated to helping those in underserved communities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, not work for a federal agency or receive any other federal funds (except for federal loans or work-study), not already possess a doctoral degree in a behavioral health field, be board certified by holding the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential (or equivalent), be currently enrolled full-time and be in good standing in an accredited doctoral-level counseling program, demonstrate knowledge of and experience with underserved minority communities, and commit to teach, administer services, conduct research, and/or provide direct mental health counseling to those from underserved communities within one year after graduating and for at least two years after graduation.
NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Mental Health Counselors (Master’s) – $10,000

Maureen L. and Howard Blitman, P.E., Scholarship to Promote Diversity in Engineering – $5,000
The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) offers the Maureen L. and Howard Blitman Scholarship to Promote Diversity in Engineering. This scholarship is open to students of an underrepresented ethnic minority in the engineering field, including African-American, Native American, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander students. In order to qualify, applicants must have been accepted to an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year university. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens.
N.G. Kaul Memorial Scholarship – $5,000
Offered by The New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA), the N.G. Kaul Memorial Scholarship is an annual award for graduate students focusing on water quality. Applicants must be pursuing graduate or doctoral degrees in environmental engineering, civil engineering or environmental science concentrating on water quality. Additionally, applicants must be committed to careers in government service.
Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minority Students – $2,500
Offered by the United Methodist Church, the Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minority Students provides financial support for minority undergraduate students pursuing careers in religion journalism. Applicants must be enrolled at the junior or senior level in the journalism or communications department of an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants are judged on their “Christian commitment and involvement in the life of the United Methodist Church,” academic accomplishments, journalistic experience and talents, goals for the future, and “potential professional ability as a religion journalist.”
Student Excellence in Archaeology Scholarship (SEAS) – Up to $3,000
Offered by the Society for American Archaeology, the Student Excellence in Archaeology Scholarship (SEAS) — formerly known as the Historically Underrepresented Groups Scholarship — supports the recruitment and retention of minority students working towards degrees in archaeology by providing scholarships to help fund archaeological training and participation in research programs. There are scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants must be a member of a historically underrepresented group, be a resident of the United States or Canada, and attend an accredited university. Applications open in October each year.
Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program for High School Seniors – $10,000
In 2021, the Sallie Mae Fund partnered with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to expand the Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program in an effort to further promote diversity in higher education among minority students and others from historically underserved communities. The program will award 75 $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors over three years. High school seniors who are facing financial challenges may apply to win a $10,000 scholarship to help them attend college or a vocational-technical school. Applicants must belong to a diverse community, be currently enrolled as a high school senior, plan to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program, have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, be Pell-Grant eligible, and meet other terms.
TCA Study Abroad Scholarship Program for American Minority Students – $500-$2,000
The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) offers up to 100 awards under its TCA Study Abroad Scholarship Program for American Minority Students. Under the program, TCA provides up to 100 scholarships per year to eligible American undergraduate and graduate students of African American, Armenian American, Bosnian American, Filipino American, Hispanic American, Macedonian American, and Native American descent who are accepted to study for a semester or a year at a university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The scholarship awards are between $500 and $2,000, depending on the duration of the enrolled program.
Gates Scholarship – Full Cost of Attendance
The Gates Scholarship is annually awarded to minority, college-bound high school seniors from low-income households. This is a “last dollar” scholarship so Gates Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance (includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs) that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by FAFSA or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, be from one or more ethnic minority groups, be Pell-eligible, be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, and meet a minimum GPA requirement of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Applications open in July each year.
AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students – $12,000
AICPA Fellowships for Minority Doctoral Students are annually awarded to minority doctoral-level accounting students. Applicants must be admitted to or attending traditional, residential, full-time doctoral programs in accounting at universities accredited by the AACSB, ACBSP and IACBE.
