Amount: Up to 12,000. About: Offered by the Patient Advocate Foundation, Scholarship for Survivors is open to legal residents of the United States pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies who have been diagnosed with or treated for a cancer or chronic disease. The PAF’s Scholarship for Survivor Undergraduate Scholarship is an award of $3,000 per school year for four consecutive years until the student receives a maximum of $12,000 or graduates with a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first, The PAF’s Scholarship for Survivor Graduate Scholarship is an award of $3,000 per school year for up to two consecutive years until the student receives a maximum of $6,000 or graduates with a master’s or Ph.D. degree, whichever comes first. To qualify for the National Undergraduate Scholarship, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be under the age of 25, have been diagnosed with and/or been actively treated for cancer or a chronic illness within the past five years, be pursuing an associate degree or higher, and demonstrate financial need. To qualify for the National Graduate Scholarship, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, have been diagnosed with and/or been actively treated for cancer or a chronic illness within the past 10 years, be pursuing a master’s degree or higher, and demonstrate financial need. If selected as a recipient of either the undergraduate or graduate scholarship, students must maintain a GPA of at least 2.75 on a 3.0 scale, be a full-time student, and complete 20 hours of community service for the year the scholarship will be dispensed.
