Offered by International Association of Black Actuaries, the International Association of Black Actuaries Scholarships is a $1,500 $5,000 award to provide for Black students of African descent originating from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and African nations. Applicants must identify as black; must be an undergraduate or graduate student; must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada, or a citizen of any Caribbean or African nation on a United States or Canadian student visa; college or university in the United States or Canada offering either a program in actuarial science or courses that will serve to prepare the student for an actuarial career; must possess a strong mathematical aptitude proven through high school and/or collegiate courses; must have an interest in pursuing a career in Actuarial Science; must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; any officers, board members, or IABA Scholarship Committee members, or immediate relatives or employees of officers, board members or IABA Scholarship Committee members are not eligible. 85 awards are made annually.
Eligible Grade Levels: Graduate Student, College Freshman, College Sophomore, College Junior, College Senior, High School Senior
Eligible Majors: Actuarial Science
Residency Requirement: No residency requirement
Minimum GPA: No GPA requirement
