Amount: $15,000. About: Awarded by the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, the Goldwater Scholarship provides scholarships to students who wish to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. Applicants must be nominated by a Goldwater Campus Representative. Applicants must be full-time, degree-pursuing sophomores or juniors at an accredited 2- or 4-year institution of higher education, plan to pursue a research career in a natural science, mathematics or engineering, have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. To be considered for a nomination for a Goldwater Scholarship by your academic institution, you must first complete and submit a short Student Profile and Pre-application — individual internal campus deadlines fall between early September and late January of each academic year.
