About:
Administered by the New York Women in Communications (NYWICI), the NYWICI Scholarships are awarded each year to “empower women in the communications field.” Most of the scholarships are named or sponsored awards supported by nonprofits or corporations, which set their own eligibility requirements. To qualify, applicants must be either a student attending school in NY, NJ, or CT or be a college undergraduate or graduate student who is a U. S. citizen or legal permanent resident living in one of these states, unless otherwise specified in an individual scholarship’s criteria. Additionally, applicants ages 18-26 must be a member of NYWICI via the complementary Rising Star membership. Applicants ages 27+ are encouraged, but not required, to be a NYWICI member. Applicants must: (i) be majoring, planning to declare a major, or pursuing an advanced degree in a communications-related field (including but not limited to advertising, broadcasting, communications, digital media, English, film, journalism, marketing, public relations, or publishing) at a U.S. accredited college/university; (ii) have an overall GPA of 3.2 (or 87%) or better; and (iii) be available for a virtual interview with timing TBD. Applicants are also required to submit recommendation letters and be available for mandatory internships.
