About: Offered by Gilroy Foundation, the Julio Mata Family Scholarship is a $12,500 $50,000 award to support a Gilroy student of Mexican descent who is planning to pursue postsecondary education. Applicant must reside within the Gilroy Unified School District boundaries and attend a high school in Gilroy; applicant’s father must be of paternal Mexican heritage and surname, following the paternal line back to Mexico; must be a legal resident of the United States; must have a positive attitude towards education and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
