Amount: $10,000. About: Offered by Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the Deblinger Family Scholarship is a $10,000 award to support female students who are single parents and are pursuing postsecondary education. Applicants must be single, female parents who are the heads of their households; currently enrolled in a community college to obtain an associate’s degree, certificate or in a four-year college transfer program; students who already have an a degree and are planning to transfer to a four-year college, are also eligible; must already be accepted into an accredited nonprofit school/program before applying for a scholarship; current residents of Alameda County, San Francisco County, Santa Clara County, Santa Cruz County, and San Mateo County; preference will be given to residents of Oakland, San Francisco, East Palo Alto, San Jose and Watsonville; minimum cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and in good academic standing; demonstrate financial need. 3 awards are made annually.
