New York Section AWWA Board of Governors Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship

Amount: $2,000. About: The New York Section American Water Works Association (NYSAWWA) Board of Governors Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship is intended to encourage students to consider becoming part of the water industry. Each year, NYSAWWA awards $2,000 to a “promising young person who demonstrates the academic skills and commitment to help create the next generation of leaders in the water industry.” Applicants must be a current college sophomore or junior who will be enrolled full-time as college junior or senior in the upcoming academic year and be a New York State resident or attending school at an accredited New York State college or university. NYSAWWA will also consider an applicant’s course work in areas related to a career in the water industry and weigh an applicant’s extracurricular activities such as participation in student chapters of professional societies and summer work experience in the water industry. While there is no minimum GPA requirement, academic achievement is a major factor in the selection process.
