Amount: $14,000. About: Offered by The Museum of Flight, the Alaska Airlines Flight Training Scholarship is a $14,000 award to support Washington State high school students pursuing flight training. Applicants must be high school students aged 16½ (as of March 1, current year) or older who want to earn their private pilot license; must be a U.S. citizen residing in the state of Washington; satisfactory completion of, or concurrently enrolled in a private pilot ground school course, either through the museum of flight, a flight school, or online provider; must begin process of obtaining FAA third-class medical certificate; student membership with the AOPA and then get a free consultation to discuss the process of obtaining a FAA Medical certificate and for guidance related to any health-related concerns; must participate in the museum’s flight mentoring club, which meets at least once a month.
