About:
The AICPA Foundation Fellowship for Accounting Doctoral Students is meant for “CPAs with recent accounting experience who want to serve as role models and mentors to young people in the academic environment.” Each year, the foundation awards multiple $15,000 fellowships to CPAs who are starting or are already pursuing a full-time accounting Ph.D. or DBA degree at an AACSB-accredited accounting/business school who demonstrate significant potential to become accounting educators. The fellowship may be renewable for up to three consecutive years from the initial award upon proof of enrollment and program progress for award renewal. Applicants must be licensed as a CPA; have either applied to a full-time AACSB accounting Ph.D. or DBA program (with an accounting concentration) in the United States and awaiting word on acceptance (award contingent upon program acceptance) – with preference given to those who have already been accepted into a full-time AACSB accounting Ph.D. or DBA program; have matriculated into an AACSB-accredited full-time accounting Ph.D. or DBA program and are pursuing appropriate coursework; intend to teach and research at a U.S. accredited university upon graduation (as indicated through a written essay); and have a minimum of one year left in their program. Additionally, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder), demonstrate financial need, and complete an online application, which includes an essay, academic documents, resume, and two letters of recommendation.
