About this internship
BDO USA is hiring a Core Tax Associate intern for Summer 2026 in Charlotte, working on site at 615 South College St. This role is designed for students pursuing accounting-related careers who are eligible to sit for the CPA exams and are making progress toward a U.S. jurisdiction admission to practice or an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) credential (or an equivalent designation). You’ll support tax work that may include preparing simple tax returns in an accounting and consulting environment.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics required OR Bachelor’s degree in other focus area and CPA certification required
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exams
- progress towards admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction
- progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or progress towards the equivalent of one of these designations) upon starting employment
- Ability to prepare simple tax returns
Nice to have
- Progress toward completing enough coursework to be eligible to sit for the CPA exams by the start date.
- Prior coursework or experience that supports preparing simple tax returns (for example, introductory tax classes or similar exposure).
- Interest in continuing progress toward a U.S. jurisdiction admission to practice, IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), or an equivalent designation.
- Comfort working fully on site in Charlotte, including commuting to 615 South College St.
- Academic background aligned with accounting, finance, economics, or statistics (or a related focus paired with CPA certification).
