About this internship
As a Data Scientist Intern (TikTok-Search) for Summer 2026, you’ll work on data science problems that support content discovery for TikTok’s search experience in San Jose, CA. This on-site role is geared toward BS/MS students in a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience) who can query data and use at least one scripting language. Pay is listed at $35/hr.
Qualifications
Required
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science etc relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficient in data querying languages and at least one scripting language (e.g. Python、R)
- Experience in one or more of the following methods: forecasting, statistical and causal inference, classification methods.
Nice to have
- Coursework or project experience applying forecasting, classification, or statistical inference to real datasets
- Comfort translating open-ended questions into measurable metrics and testable hypotheses
- Experience communicating analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders (e.g., through written summaries or presentations)
- Familiarity with setting up and validating experiments or evaluation approaches for product changes
How to stand out (TUN tip)
Before applying, prepare a short portfolio of 1–2 projects that show how you used SQL (or another data querying language) plus Python or R to answer a concrete question, and highlight which methods you used (forecasting, causal/statistical inference, or classification). In your resume, make the tools and your individual contributions easy to spot near each project entry.
