Golden 1 Scholarship Now Open for Applications

Golden 1 Credit Union is now accepting applications for its Golden 1 Scholarship.

Launched in 2013, the scholarship supports students pursuing higher education in California.

“Every year, we’re inspired by the dedication of our student applicants as they pursue their educational dreams,” said Erica Taylor, Senior Vice President of Community Impact and Public Relations Officer for Golden 1 Credit Union. “Golden 1 is proud to help make higher education more accessible to students in the communities we serve.”

“Our scholarship program offers valuable educational opportunities for California students,” added Taylor. “We encourage all eligible students to apply as they pursue their academic goals, and we’re excited to see them grow into the next generation of leaders.”

The scholarship is open to Golden 1 members and their dependents, as well as dependents of eligible Golden 1 employees.

Golden 1 will award up to $1,200 annually to full-time community college students and up to $5,000 annually to four-year university students in California.

The scholarship is renewable so students attending a community college may renew for one additional year, while students in a four-year institution may renew for up to three additional years, provided that they meet the renewal criteria.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must plan on attending an accredited nonprofit, two-year community college or four-year college/university in California as a full-time student for the 2025-26 academic year, possess a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and have a minimum of 24 hours of community service or 24 hours of employment in the past 12 months. Additionally, at the time they apply, students must be either a Golden 1 member or a dependent of a member for at least one year, or be a dependent of a Golden 1 employee who has been employed with Golden 1 for at least a year.

To apply, interested students must submit a completed application, which includes an essay on how receiving a Golden 1 Scholarship will make a meaningful difference for the student and/or their family.

Applications are due by January 31, 2025. Check here for further details and to apply for the Golden 1 Scholarship.
