U.S. student debt is at a record high, hitting $1.6 trillion in 2019. About 44 million students borrow to pay for college, with the average undergrad borrowing about $30,000

So, students desperately need help paying for college. Fortunately, many companies and organizations are willing to do their part in helping students by sponsoring scholarships. 

And there are many different types of scholarships to suit every student. For example, this week’s featured scholarships are aimed at students in the field of medicine, law, automotive, art, sustainability and more. 

Aya Healthcare Future Travel Nurse Scholarship

Aya Healthcare, a travel nurse and workforce solutions provider, is accepting applications for its Future Travel Nurse Scholarship. The company is looking to award up to 10 scholarships of $1,000 each to eligible nursing students accepted or already enrolled at an accredited school.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including a 500-word essay that addresses the aspects of nursing they are looking forward to the most, where they see themselves professionally in five years, their goals for their nursing career, and, if applicable, their reasons for considering travel nursing with Aya Healthcare.

Application Deadline: December 31, 2020

Award: $1,000

Eligibility: 

  • Must be a nursing student accepted or already enrolled at an accredited school
  • Must be in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Must be involved in extracurricular organizations and/or volunteer work
  • Must be passionate about patient care and a career in healthcare

BodyLogicMD Scholarship Program

The inaugural BodyLogicMD Scholarship Program is meant for aspiring medical professionals. BodyLogicMD will award $5,000 in scholarship twice a year — 2020 summer semester and fall semester — to a deserving medical student who aims to pursue a career that is centered on optimal health and healing in the field of integrative medicine.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including a 350-word essay.

Application Deadline: April 6, 2020 for summer semester scholarship & August 3, 2020 for fall semester scholarship

Award: $5,000

Eligibility: 

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited medical program at an accredited university
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Must provide school records to indicate GPA
  • Must be pursuing a degree in the medical field

Garage Gurus Automotive Technician Scholarships

Garage Gurus®, an industry-leading training and support platform from DRiV, is accepting applications for the Garage Gurus Automotive Technician Scholarships for the 2020-21 school year. Garage Gurus seeks to award 12 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to future automotive technicians.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including two letters of recommendation and an essay or video addressing the prompt question “Why I want to be a top technician.”

Award: $2,500

Eligibility: 

  • Must be enrolled full-time at a U.S. high school, or accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited, U.S.-based automotive technical school, college or university
  • Must be in pursuit of an automotive technician degree or certification (or equivalent degree/certification)
  • Must carry a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be a legal resident of the United States, in the United States on a student Visa or a resident alien

Greater Than Gatsby Annual Scholarships

Now in its second year, the Greater Than Gatsby Annual Scholarships was created to open a channel of support for the next generation. Greater Than Gatsby, an industry leader in the development of photography editing tools, is looking to award three scholarships of $2,000 each to students pursuing degrees in art, film, fine arts, journalism, multimedia, photography and visual arts.  

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including three photos evidencing their best photography and an essay of at least 500 words describing their interest in photography and/or the relation of photography to their chosen career or passion.

Application Deadline: May 1, 2020

Award: $2,000

Eligibility: 

  • Must be a recently accepted high-school student, undergraduate or graduate student from an accredited college/university in the United States
  • Must be majoring in any type of art, communications, English, film, fine arts, journalism, multimedia, photography and visual arts
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity (student ID or driver’s license) if chosen as the winner

Relativity Fest Student Scholarship

The Relativity Fest Student Scholarship is intended for applicants interested in attending the 11th Annual Relativity Fest, an e-discovery conference scheduled for September 20-23, 2020. Relativity, an industry leader in legaltech, is looking to award 20 scholarships to law school or paralegal students, or recent graduates, which will cover transportation, lodging, meals and event registration to this year’s Relativity Fest. The Relativity Fest is designed to give selected students access to networking opportunities with industry professionals and education on the growing impact of technology on today’s legal industry.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including responses to four essay questions.

Application Deadline: May 14, 2020

Award: Transportation, lodging, meals and event registration to the Relativity Fest + $100 stipend for incidentals

Eligibility: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in, or have graduated in 2019 or 2020 from, an ABA-approved law school or paralegal program
  • Must be at least 21 years old on September 19, 2020
  • Must be able to attend Relativity Fest from September 20-23, 2020

Ted Rollins Eco Scholarship

Multinational housing company Valeo Groupe and Ted Rollins, its executive chairman and managing partner, are now accepting applications for their bi-annual 2020 Ted Rollins Eco Scholarship. Recognizing the key role that businesses can play in driving sustainability, they are looking to award the scholarship to students who are majoring in business, sustainability or related fields.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including an essay that details their interests, experience and goals related to the advancement of sustainability and ecopreneurism. 

Application Deadline: April 30, 2020

Award: $1,000

Eligibility: 

  • Must be a high school senior or college undergraduate student
  • Must major (or plan to major) in a field related to business, sustainability or marketing
  • Must plan to take at least 10 credit hours during the fall 2020 semester

The Alfred Sparman Scholarship Program

Dr. Alfred Sparman, an American-trained physician and CEO of the Sparman Clinic in Barbados, is currently accepting applications for The Alfred Sparman Scholarship Program. He seeks to provide three scholarships — one scholarship of $2,000 and two additional scholarships of $1,000 each — for college and university students in the United States, Canada, Barbados and the UK.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including a 500-word essay on their program of choice and why they require financial aid in the form of a scholarship.

Eligibility: 

  • Must be a college or university student in the United States, Canada, Barbados, or the UK
  • Must submit proof of enrollment in the form of an acceptance letter

The Justin Gimelstob Scholarship Program

Justin Gimelstob, a retired professional tennis player, has created his scholarship program to support student athletes for their passion and ambition. He intends to award three scholarships of varying amounts. 

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including a 500-word essay and proof of enrollment in the form of an acceptance letter or class schedule. 

Application Deadline: April 15, 2020

Award: $5,000, $2,500 & $1,000

Eligibility: 

  • Must be a collegiate student athlete
  • Must be enrolled in a U.S. college or university 

The Photographer.org Annual Scholarships

Photographer.org, which connects consumers with photographers near them, is currently accepting applications for The Photographer.org Annual Scholarships, which was created to open a channel of support for the next generation. The company is looking to award three scholarships of $1,000 each.  

To apply, those interested must submit an application that includes an essay of at least 300 words describing their interest in photography.
