Project Yellow Light is a scholarship competition designed to bring about change. As an applicant, you have one clear mission: encourage your peers to develop and embrace safe driving habits.

Create either a video, a billboard, OR a radio spot designed to motivate, persuade and encourage your peers not to drive distracted. You have a unique opportunity to play a key role in spreading this important message. You can speak to your peers on this subject in a way that adults cannot. The more lives you can impact, the more lives you can save.

Video Guidelines

Create a video EITHER exactly :25 or exactly :55 seconds addressing young drivers who are new to the road. Your video should aim to stop distracted driving. Pick one type of distraction as the subject of your video: Texting while driving, E-mailing, Tweeting, Facebooking or anything else someone does with their thumbs and their phone instead of keeping them on the wheel. No entry will be accepted with footage of a person ACTUALLY texting while driving! But there are ways to get around it (see FAQ). If your video is selected as a winner and is distributed as an Ad Council PSA, we will add on a 05 second end frame to make the full video 30 or 60. You must be a high school junior or senior or a full-time college student to participate.

Deadline: April 1

Amount(s): $5,000 | $2,000 | $1,0000

Billboard Guidelines

Create a design for a billboard advertisement to encourage safe habits among new drivers. Your goal is to stop distracted driving; specifically texting while driving. Limit your design to a clear image with 7 words or less. Please look here for inspiration. Also, please review the Clear Channel Outdoor best practices guide for tips on making effective outdoor advertising. If your entry is selected, your work will be turned into a professional public service billboard by the Ad Council and shown on billboards across the U.S. courtesy of Clear Channel Outdoor. You must be a high school junior or senior or full-time college student to participate.

Deadline: March 1

Amount: $2,000

So concentrate on the concerns and consequences of using a mobile device while driving! You can look here for inspiration; also, please review the iHeartRadio best practices guide here for tips on making effective radio advertising.

Deadline: March 1
