Scholarship Summary
MALDEF has always sought to support law students who seek to further their mission of advancing the civil rights of the Latino community in the United States through the legal profession. That’s why MALDEF has annually awarded 5-15 law school scholarships of $5,000 each to deserving law students throughout the nation.

Law students with future plans to advance the rights of Latinos should apply for this scholarship!
Eligibility:
- All law students currently enrolled full time at an accredited United States law school are eligible to apply.
- Applicants are evaluated for their academic and extracurricular achievements, for their background and financial need, and, most important, for their demonstrated commitment to advancing Latino civil rights in their careers.
How to Apply:
- Fill out the application form on the website.
- Attach your current resume.
- Write a personal statement of up to 750 words about the topic of your choosing that you think will best convey your strengths. Please include your short and long-term professional aspirations following law school.
- Attach one letter of recommendation.
- Include transcripts for law school (for applicants who have completed at least one semester of law school) and college (for applicants who are applying to or just enrolled in law school).
- Send all application materials to lawscholarships@maldef.org or by mail, to the following address:
