Do good, and you just may be rewarded.

Healthline.com, the familiar health news and information site, has teamed up with the nonprofit organization Feeding America to launch its fourth annual Stronger Scholarship. This year, the company is awarding $5,000 scholarships to four students helping to fight hunger in their communities.

“One in seven children in the U.S. struggles with hunger,” Tracy Rosecrans, Healthline Media’s senior vice president of marketing, said in a news release. “Healthline’s mission is to create a stronger and healthier world, and that starts with ensuring people have enough to eat. Partnering with Feeding America is a natural opportunity for us to reward the brightest students addressing the problem.”

The application period is now open, and those interested have until April 30, 2020, to apply. To be eligible, applicants must have demonstrated involvement in advancing access to nutritious food, either through research, raising awareness or community building. Healthline also asks that applicants have at least a 3.0 GPA, are a current U.S. resident and are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Any student interested in applying can do so by first creating an AIM account. From there, applicants will be asked to answer several brief essay questions and upload their most recent transcript, either from their senior year of high school or college.

The four winners will be selected based on their GPA, community or school involvement, leadership potential and essay responses. The winners will be announced on August 1.

“Every day, millions of children and adults do not get the food and nourishment needed to thrive,” Jessica Hager, Director of Healthcare Partnerships & Nutrition at Feeding America, said in the release. “We work to source and distribute nutritious food to neighbors in need and build a path to a brighter, food-secure future. Our partnership with Healthline and involvement in the Stronger Scholarship effort work to deliver on that promise.”

In an effort to encourage students to help those around them and to reward those already doing so, Healthline has been offering the Stronger Scholarship Award since 2017. Each year, the scholarship focuses on a different topic. Over the past three years, topics have included diabetes, mental illness, and chronic and rare diseases. To this point, Healthline has already awarded $60,000 in scholarships to 10 deserving students.
