The virtual healthcare company Caregility is now accepting applications for its first-ever Caregility Cares Essential Worker Scholarship Program.

In an effort to give back to essential healthcare workers and their families, the company plans to award five $5,000 scholarships to U.S. high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students who are health care workers or dependents of health care workers and are pursuing their degrees in health fields.

According to the eligibility criteria, health care workers can be any of the following: hospital administrators, doctors, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, nursing assistants, phlebotomists, home health aides or medical assistants.

Those interested must apply by May 31, 2021. To apply, applicants must submit an essay of 500 words or more on what has inspired them to pursue a health-related field.

“COVID-19 shed a spotlight on how important our frontline healthcare workers are and how we can never have enough qualified people in our country. We are proud to announce the establishment of the scholarship program to help fund educational pursuits of those who want to dedicate their lives to helping others,” Mike Brandofino, President and COO of Caregility, said in a press release.

“The Caregility Cares Essential Worker Scholarship program extends our efforts to honor frontline healthcare workers who have made incredible contributions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting their efforts to achieve higher education degrees in the field of medicine,” he added. “We’re honored to support those dedicating their lives to such a vital and noble profession.”

2021 is the scholarship’s inaugural year, but Caregility plans to continue the scholarship program on an annual basis.
