BestColleges, an online provider of education resources, is now accepting applications for its 2024 Scholarship for Black Women in STEM.

The company launched the scholarship program last year to support Black women pursuing STEM careers.

“Statistics show that Black women continue to be an underrepresented group in STEM fields, especially in leadership roles,” said Cobretti D. Williams, managing editor of BestColleges. “Our goal in launching this scholarship is to help Black women pursue their education with confidence knowing they have the financial support from BestColleges to succeed.”

The company will award five scholarships in the amount of $6,000 each this year.

The scholarship is open to students who intend to enroll or will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university in the United States for the 2024-25 academic year.

Applicants must identify as a cisgender, transgender or gender non-conforming Black woman, be pursuing a STEM-related field,  be at least 17 years of age and be a legal resident of the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia.

To apply, eligible students must write an essay on why they are pursuing a STEM degree and how they will impact the world through their contemplated STEM career. The essays must be original to them and not exceed 500 words.
