The 2024 AP exams will take place over a two-week period in May: May 6–10 and May 13–17.

The AP English Literature and Composition exam for 2024 will be a full-length paper-and-pencil exam that students can take in school only.

Can I take the 2024 English Literature exam virtually?

The 2024 English Literature exam is one of the few AP exams that’s available as a digital exam in the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C. However, the digital exam is optional and it is up to individual schools to decide if they want to offer a digital, paper, or a combination of paper and digital exam. So check with your school to see which format is being offered.

What is the AP English Literature and Composition exam format for 2024?

The 2024 AP English Literature exam will consist of two sections: multiple-choice and free-response. The multiple-choice section is worth 45 percent of the exam score, and the free-response section is worth 55 percent. 

You will have 1 hour to answer 55 multiple-choice questions and 2 hours to answer 3 free-response questions.
