Built in the early 18th century, the Belmont Mansion now serves as an Underground Railroad museum. Learn about the 19th century from a place that lived through it all. Open Tuesday-Friday and on the weekends by appointment. $5 admission for college students with ID.
The Academy of Natural Sciences
Featuring dinosaurs, fossils, butterflies, and large-sized dioramas, this museum of natural science should be at the top of your list of Philly destinations. Open 7 days a week. $14.95 tickets for college students with ID.
Chemical Heritage Foundation Museum
Explore the history of chemistry and its role in society. Featuring exhibits on play laboratory sets for children and the ways in which chemistry touches our modern life, this museum is for chemistry nerds and non-science lovers alike. Open Monday-Saturday. Free admission.
African American Museum in Philadelphia
As the first major museum in the U.S. on African American life, this museum explores culture, art, and history. Current exhibits on criminal justice and freedom make this museum a must-see. Open Thursday-Sunday. $10 admission for college students with ID.
The oldest Swedish Museum in the country features exhibits on Swedish culture and traditions. Open Tuesday-Sunday. $6 admission for college students with ID.
The famous poet once stayed in Philadelphia and now his former residence is open to the public for their viewing pleasure. Open Friday-Sunday. Free admission.
The Fabric Workshop and Museum
Explore contemporary artwork, the artists-in-residence, and live performances. Open 7 days a week. Free admission.
Get ready to set sail with this museum’s extensive exhibits on all things maritime. Just don’t get sea sick, okay? Open 7 days a week. $12 admission for college students with ID.
A museum dedicated to exploring the meaning of the word ‘freedom’, primarily through a collection of glass art. Open 7 days a week. $5 admission for college students with ID.
This was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, and is now open for public viewing. Open 7 days a week. $10 admission for college students with ID.
