Amount: Up to $3,000. About: Offered by MPOWER Financing, which provides private student loans to international and DACA students in the United States and Canada, the MPOWER Refugee Scholarship is a quarterly award intended to support students who are fleeing harsh conditions from around the world and are immigrating to the United States or Canada for a better future. Three scholarships are awarded each quarter in the amount of $3,000 (Grand Prize), and $1,000 (two Honorable Mentions). Applicants must be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and be an international student allowed to legally study in the United States or Canada through one of the following: be a refugee or asylee from any country (or pursuing such status); have a Temporary Protected Status; or be a beneficiary of Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) status. Applicants need not be MPOWER borrowers to apply for this scholarship.
