Georgia Harkness Scholarship

Amount: $5,000. About: The Georgia Harkness Scholarship is one of several scholarships offered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM), a United Methodist Church educational organization. Named after Georgia Harkness, the first woman to teach theology at an American seminary, this scholarship is reserved for women over 35 preparing for ordained ministry as an elder in the United Methodist Church as a second career. The award is designed for students pursuing the basic seminary degree leading to elder’s ordination. It is not available for students pursuing undergraduate, D.Min. or Ph.D. work.

Eligible Majors: Divinity/Ministry
Residency Requirement: No residency requirement
Minimum GPA: No GPA requirement
