Freixenet Mionetto USA, one of the largest sparkling wine companies in the United States, is proud to establish the Freixenet Mionetto USA Juan Furne Memorial Scholarship. Juan’s commitment and dedication to our organization as Director of Export Sales, Caribbean, Japan and Canada was felt by all that he met along the way.

Throughout his tenure, Juan’s spirit and energy contributed to his work and further drove our portfolios presence in global markets. Juan encapsulated Freixenet Mionetto USA’s vision to “Make Life Sparkle” anyway in which he could through his dedication, integrity and drive to showcase our dynamic portfolio of quality wines.

Scholarship Amount: $3,000 award

Eligible Recipients: Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be high school seniors or high school graduates who plan to enroll, or current undergraduate or vocational/technical students who will be enrolled, full-time at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the 2024-25 academic year, ages 25 and below. 
  • Applicants must be immediate children or grandchildren of full-time employees of Freixenet Mionetto USA. *Full-time employees are regular-time employees who are scheduled to work more than 30 hours per week on a regular basis. 
  • Applicant’s parent/grandparent must have been employed by Freixenet Mionetto USA for at least six (6) months prior to the start date of the scholarship.
  • Applicant’s parent/guardian must be employed by Freixenet Mionetto USA at the time of award announcement.

Scholarship Requirements: Applicants must write an essay of 350-500 words on ONE of the following prompts:

  • Passion – Describe a specific passion or interest that has become a fundamental aspect of your identity. Explain how your commitment to this pursuit has contributed to enriching your character, offering you a sense of purpose, and cultivating a deep sense of fulfillment.
  • Balance – Reflect on how you’ve successfully balanced your personal connections and responsibilities, whether they involve family, friends, or chosen communities, alongside your school and work commitments. Discuss how these relationships and responsibilities have influenced your character by fostering adaptability, time management, and a sense of belonging.
  • Resilience Reflect on a significant challenge you’ve faced in your personal or academic life. How did you work to overcome this obstacle, and what personal qualities or strengths did you draw upon in this process? Discuss how this experience has fostered growth and development in your character, and how it has prepared you for future hurdles.
  • Impact – In the spirit of community and collaboration, recount an experience where you took the initiative to address a concern or seize an opportunity in your community, whether it be in your school, neighborhood, or a group you are part of. Describe the steps you took and the outcomes of your initiative. How has this experience enriched your understanding of community dynamics and your role within it?
