BRPH, Inc., an architectural and engineering firm, has launched the BRPH STEAM Education Microgrants for K-12 Educators to commemorate its 60th anniversary.

The program supports elementary and secondary educators in their quest to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in their students.

“BRPH has been providing architecture, design and engineering services for the education market throughout our 60-year history and we’re deeply invested in improving the lives of faculty, staff and students,” Janie McDermott, vice president, chief human resources officer and principal, BRPH Companies, Inc., said in a statement. “We are especially proud to support the hard-working teachers in the districts where we do business and to help inspire the next generation of STEAM scholars who will one day join us as architects, engineers and constructors.”

The company will award six microgrants in the amount of $1,000 each. These funds are meant to support innovative, hands-on and immersive STEAM projects within the classroom setting, particularly those that may not be feasible otherwise due to a lack of funds. The goal is to promote a deeper interest in STEAM fields through the proposed projects.

The microgrant is open to educators at private, public, or charter schools in Alabama (Madison county), Florida (Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties) and Georgia (Atlanta public schools and Cobb, DeKalb, Fayette, Forsyth and Fulton counties).

To apply, educators must describe how their proposed project ties into the STEAM curriculum, explain how it will provide students with hands-on and immersive experiences, and include a detailed budget, a timeline for expenditures and the number of students the project will benefit.
