Dallas is a great place to be year-round! Whether you are just staying for a bit or are spending all four years of your college years in this magical place, there are some things that you simply can’t miss out on doing. Case in point: museums. I know, I know, there are some of you out there who absolutely avoid museums like the plague, but trust me when I say they can actually be very interesting/exciting places to go visit. At the very least, you can take a few Selfies and brag about how cultured you are on Snapchat!

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

This museum features post-World War II art in all forms, ranging from paintings, sculptures, videos, and prints. All major art movements such as minimalism and American pop are featured. Open Tuesday-Sunday. $4 admission for students with ID. 

Dallas Museum of Art

Featuring everything from modern art to a current exhibit on Irving Penn, with over 23,000 works of art. Open Tuesday-Sunday. Free general admission, $12 special collection admission for students with ID. 

Meadows Museum

The Meadows Museum is well known for its founding collection of Spanish art pieces, but has expanded to other areas as well. Open Tuesday-Sunday. $4 admission for students with ID, free admission for MSU students. 

African American Museum

This museum is devoted to preserving and displaying African American cultural and artistic materials. Open Tuesday-Saturday. $2 admission, $5 for guided tour. 

National Scouting Museum

Featuring an exhibit on the Boy Scouts of America and the art and history of the group, this museum is an interesting exploration of a timeless organization in the US. Open 7 days a week. $8 admission, free admission Sundays and Mondays. 

CR Smith Museum

Take off with a flight through airline history. Open Tuesday-Saturday. $4 admission for students with ID. 

Museum of Geometric and MADI Art

With a specific focus on geometric art and MADI, a unique, hard-edged style, this museum is said to inspire and amuse all. Open Tuesday-Sunday. Free admission. 

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

A modern, interactive museum with video and 3D computer animation and hands-on activities on science and nature. Open 7 days a week. $19 general admission. 

Dallas Holocaust Museum

The Holocaust Museum features the history of the Holocaust and is dedicated to stopping prejudice and advancing human rights through education. Open 7 days a week. $8 admission for students with ID. 

National Videogame Museum

Saving the best for last! Gamers will love to explore the history of the video game industry and play a few of their old favorites. Open Tuesday-Sunday. $12 admission.
