The 2025 Herbert V. Johnson Family Scholarship<\/a> is now open for applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To qualify, applicants must be a descendant of Jessie and Sarah L. Johnson, including by marriage and\/or adoption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scholarship is sponsored by Herbert V. Johnson, president and founder of HVJ Associates, Inc., a multi-discipline engineering business with offices across Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, Johnson awards up to $20,000 to four winners. The actual award amount may vary, however, based on other scholarships and financial aid received by an awardee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award may be used towards annual tuition, room and board, and school books. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson\u2019s own experience as a first-generation college student motivated him to start a scholarship to ease the path for others in his family so they, too, can realize their full potential. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo be educated is to be powerful \u2013 it enables one to live a life of creativity, growth, contribution and fulfillment. Education has been key to the achievements and extraordinary fulfillment that I\u2019ve experienced in life, and I know the challenges firsthand of getting a college education,\u201d said Johnson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith finances being one, I want to reduce or eliminate that challenge for my family. So I have set up the Herbert V. Johnson Family Scholarship Fund to help the descendants of my parents, Jessie and Sarah L. Johnson,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To qualify, applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria. Past awardees may reapply so long as they meet the criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
