{"id":8237,"date":"2016-07-18T14:32:05","date_gmt":"2016-07-18T18:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/?p=8237"},"modified":"2025-06-12T08:55:32","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T12:55:32","slug":"acs-scholars-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/acs-scholars-award\/","title":{"rendered":"ACS Scholars Award \u2013 Up to $5,000 \u2013 Apply Annually by July 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>This is an <strong>annual scholarship<\/strong>.\u00a0Bookmark this page and check back each year!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guidelines&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the American Chemical Society, African American, Native American, and Hispanic\/Latino students planning to pursue full-time study in a chemically-related field with outstanding academic records and a desire to pursue a career in the chemical sciences can apply for an ACS Scholars Award.&nbsp;Transcripts, standardized test scores, two recommendation letters and a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) are required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"parbase section text\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>The Selection Committee reviews all applications to determine the best overall applicants. The highest-rated students are selected as scholarship recipients.&nbsp;Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic record, career objective, financial need, leadership ability, participation in school activities, and community service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"parbase section text\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be considered for a scholarship through the ACS Scholars Program, candidates must:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"parbase section text\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<ul>\n<li>Be of African descent or Black, Hispanic or Latina\/Latino\/Latinx, or Indigenous (e.g. Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native)<\/li>\n<li>Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent U.S. resident<\/li>\n<li>Be a full-time student at a high school or accredited college, university, or community college<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average 3.0, &#8220;B&#8221; or better)<\/li>\n<li>Be intending to major or are already majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science AND planning to pursue a career in a chemistry-related science as well<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"parbase section text\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>*Please note that students intending to enter Pre-Med programs or pursuing a degree in Pharmacy are not eligible for this scholarship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"parbase section text\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are different application forms for high school students and college students.
