Desperate. Thankful. Overjoyed.&nbsp;<\/em><em>Willing to take on anything and everything.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Your goal at this point? To impress the hiring manager so that you will be hired&#8230;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">WRONG!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">No matter how desperate you are, becoming a \u2018yesman&#8217;&nbsp;(<em>being compliant and agreeing to do anything and everything<\/em>) is NOT the way to go.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">To avoid a future crisis in which you become <em>significantly<\/em> dissatisfied with your job (to the point where you dread going to work), you must seriously <strong>consider, ponder, and evaluate these 3 things.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Don&#039;t Accept a Job Offer Without Considering These 3 Things First\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_ya7KTNTl_0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>1. Know what you <em>DON\u2019T<\/em> want.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Establish your deal breakers and <em>don\u2019t compromise<\/em>!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><em><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/em><\/em>For example, i<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>f you absolutely hate talking on the phone or making cold calls,&nbsp;<\/em><em>you probably shouldn\u2019t say \u2018yes\u2019 to the customer representative or the sales manager position.<br><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><em><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/em><\/em>And if you hate being on a plane,&nbsp;<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>you probably shouldn\u2019t say \u2018yes\u2019 to that job that requires you to travel twice a year.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">This might seem obvious, but people <em>do<\/em> make such mistakes (or rather, compromises).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>2. Know what you DO want.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Be able to <em>articulate<\/em> your needs and preferences, as well as your strong points.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/em>Are you a good writer? Do you have management experience? Are you detail-oriented and meticulous? Do you prefer to work alone or brainstorm in groups?<br><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Knowing your strengths and knowing what kind of <em>environment<\/em> you thrive in, what type of <em>people<\/em> you work the best with, and what kind of <em>tasks&nbsp;<\/em>you excel at is a HUGE advantage, not only for yourself but also for the company and the people you will be working with!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>3. Learn to say \u2018no\u2019<em> politely<\/em> but <em>boldly<\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Let\u2019s face it<em>: <\/em>you can\u2019t please everyone.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I mean, yes, you can please everyone <em>else<\/em>, but if you take yourself out of the equation, you\u2019ll end up being miserable.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">For instance, the hiring manager might offer you a different position than the one you applied for, or the responsibilities listed on the job posting may not be what the position actually entails (as explained to you by the hiring manager at the interview).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>WARNING<\/strong><\/span>: While it might be tempting to say yes because 1. you want a job <\/span>\u2014<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> any job, at this point <\/span>\u2014<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> and 2. you\u2019re afraid of offending the hiring manager,&nbsp;<strong><em>don\u2019t blindly say yes<\/em>!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Know that you\u2019re actually doing yourself <em>and<\/em> the hiring manager (and the company) a favor by being honest <\/span>\u2014<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> you\u2019re saving yourself from having to drag yourself to work everyday, the hiring manager from wasting time and energy, and the company from hiring someone who is not willing to<\/span> <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/how-to-thrive-not-only-survive-at-work\/\" target=\"_blank\">give it 100%<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Think about it. If you get the job but are dissatisfied, what\u2019s the point? Who\u2019s to benefit? <em>You\u2019ll end up looking for a new job sooner or later, and the whole process will repeat itself.&nbsp;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p>[divider]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better. &#8212; Dr. Steve Maraboli<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>In conclusion, it\u2019s better to spend some time <em>now<\/em> and make the right decision <em>now<\/em> rather than making hasty decisions now and regretting <em>later<\/em>.<br><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">And as challenging and frustrating as the search is, try to enjoy the process and learn from the journey. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/3-things-every-twentysomething-has-to-unlearn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Don\u2019t chase yourself down or cage yourself in a cell called&nbsp;social expectations<\/a>. Most importantly, STOP comparing yourself with others because&nbsp;<strong><em>s<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>uccess isn\u2019t relative.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">What\u2019s important is NOT the speed but the direction you are moving in.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You are desperate for a job.
