Starting on March 28, 2022, students can participate in PersonalFinanceLab\u2019s Financial Literacy Challenge, which runs through April 29, 2022. Teachers can register<\/a> their class for free now and gain access to a library of personal finance lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial literacy is key to sound financial well-being, but it is sadly lacking even among college students<\/a>. Recently, though, there has been a push to make financial literacy courses mandatory for college students<\/a>. And in Florida, students entering high school in the 2022-23 academic year will be required<\/a> to take a financial literacy class to graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Financial Literacy Challenge<\/a> features fun and interactive personal budgeting games, virtual stock market games, and embedded lessons and pop quizzes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And participants stand to win a prize for each contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top 10 students from each contest  \u2013 five in the personal budgeting game and five in the stock market game \u2013 will each win a $100 Amazon gift card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top 10 teachers will each receive a $100 Staples e-gift card. Teachers are ranked based on the number of students who complete at least six months of the personal budgeting game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the top-performing school in the stock market game will win a trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How PersonalFinanceLab Teaches Personal Finance Skills<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PersonalFinanceLab is a learning platform owned by Stock-Trak, Inc., a leading provider of web-based educational financial simulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PersonalFinanceLab\u2019s mission is to help students learn to \u201cnavigate expected and unexpected costs\u201d and \u201cface real-life examples of the difficulties that arise with monthly budgeting.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform provides opportunities for K-12 students to learn personal finance skills through fun and interactive games and built-in lessons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual stock games<\/a> allow students to practice investing in real securities and learn from their own mistakes while using virtual money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal budgeting games<\/a> allow students to practice managing a monthly budget and building their emergency savings fund. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The financial literacy curriculum<\/a>, which is aligned to state and national standards, consists of more than 300 lessons on personal finance, investing, economics, marketing and other relevant topics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Students Can Support PersonalFinanceLab<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students can support PersonalFinanceLab by asking their school to join the platform\u2019s Pilot Program<\/a> and bring a customized program to their school. Students can also ask teachers to sign up for the Free Teacher Test Drive<\/a> and to register for the platform\u2019s upcoming Financial Literacy Challenge<\/a> and future challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
