However, women remain outnumbered in STEM majors in college and make up just<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aauw.org\/resources\/research\/the-stem-gap\/\"> 28%<\/a> of the STEM workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To bridge the gap and give female STEM students an opportunity to learn about STEM careers in motorsports from an expert in the field, Hyundai Motor America will host an exclusive virtual motorsports event on Monday, June 21 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will be Hyundai\u2019s second virtual motorsports event. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/hyundai-hosts-virtual-motorsports-event-for-women-in-stem\/\">Last year\u2019s event<\/a> featured Justin Jang, an engineer with Bryan Herta Autosport on the Hyundai Motorsports team, who discussed his own career journey into motorsports and explained why math and science are important on the race track.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s attendees will hear from Hyundai racing engineers and 25-year-old IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race driver Taylor Hagler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hagler, a driver with Bryan Herta Autosport on the Hyundai Motorsports team, is Hyundai\u2019s first full-time female race car driver as well as a brand ambassador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBryan Herta Autosport quickly showed they are the team to beat in IMPC,\u201d Hagler said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/bryanhertaautosport.com\/uncategorized\/podium-at-sebring-taylor-hagler-and-michael-lewis-finish-third\/\">statement<\/a>. \u201cThe Hyundai\u2019s are fast and consistent. I figured out pretty quickly that if you can\u2019t beat them, join them, and I knew we would be quick.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hagler switched to sports car racing in 2018 after 10 years in competitive equestrian show jumping. She is employed full-time at an aviation maintenance service company in San Antonio, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taylor graduated with a BBA from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and intends to complete her MBA while pursuing a professional racing career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students interested in the Hyundai virtual event can register <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSekc5feHXq6N8RU5khzL3H1YHsd5WU2wFsHfXVPWViSh0h_-A\/viewform\">here<\/a>.
