Mantra Health, a company that provides virtual mental health care to students, is now accepting applications for its Mantra College Mental Health Provider Diversity Scholarship<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an effort to help students of color pursue careers in mental healthcare, the company plans to award one $3,000 scholarship each year to a graduate or doctoral student working towards a degree related to mental health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the eligibility criteria, each applicant must be a U.S. citizen from a historically marginalized community (Black, Hispanic and Latinx, Native American, Asian and Pacific Islander) who is actively pursuing a mental health degree and will complete fieldwork, practicum or rotation in a university or college counseling center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those interested must apply by June 15, 2021. To apply, applicants must submit an essay of  500-1,000 words on the topic: \u201cWhat inspired you to pursue a career in mental health care? How will your experiences support you in your work serving students?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeing in the higher education space, we understand that it is difficult for many students to get the support they need to achieve their academic and career goals,\u201d said Ed Gaussen, co-founder and CEO of Mantra Health. \u201cThe mission of this scholarship is to support individuals from diverse backgrounds who are interested in becoming mental health providers.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur aim is to reduce barriers for BIPOC to enter the field, not only to provide equal opportunity and support for aspiring providers, but also to address disparities in mental health care at large,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2021 is the scholarship\u2019s inaugural year, but Mantra Health plans to continue the scholarship program on an annual basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
