The deadline is fast approaching for the annual OZY Genius Awards. OZY Media will award grants of up to $10,000 each to 10 college students across the country to help them launch their dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome of the greatest inventions and brightest geniuses … broke through because they had an angel behind them. We want to be that angel for the geniuses of tomorrow,\u201d said Carlos Watson, the cofounder and CEO of OZY, in a video<\/a> announcing the 2021 program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interested college students have until April 30, 2021 (11:59 p.m. Pacific Time), to submit an application that outlines a project with the potential to create change in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to funding, winners will receive media exposure and be paired with a mentor to support them in launching their project. This year\u2019s judges include ESPN commentator Jalen Rose, BBC Evening News presenter Katty Kay, and investor and owner of the Milwaukee Bucks Marc Lasry, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OZY Genius Awards are open to full-time undergraduate students attending an accredited U.S. college or university who are legal U.S. residents and at least 18 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since launching the program, OZY has proven to be a great identifier of talent. Among the award\u2019s many past winners is Amanda Gorman, the young Poet Laureate who delighted the world with her poem at the 2021 presidential inauguration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
