There will be no multiple choice questions as there were in the past.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For free examples of free-response questions, check <a href=\"https:\/\/apstudents.collegeboard.org\/ap\/pdf\/ap19-frq-computer-science-a.pdf\">here<\/a> for the actual questions posed in the 2019 AP Computer Science A exam and <a href=\"https:\/\/secure-media.collegeboard.org\/apc\/ap18-frq-computer-science-a.pdf\">here<\/a> for those posed in the 2018 AP Computer Science A exam.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What device should I use to take the 2020 AP Computer Science A exam?<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can take the exam on any device you have access to, including a computer, tablet or a smartphone. You should make the determination of which device works best for you beforehand.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are also allowed to submit a photo of your handwritten work.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What if I don\u2019t have internet access?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need access to the internet or a working computer, contact the College Board <a href=\"https:\/\/collegeboard.tfaforms.net\/74\">here<\/a> for help. The College Board is committed to making the 2020 AP Computer Science A exam work for all students: \u201cWe recognize that the digital divide could prevent some low-income and rural students from participating. Working with partners, we will invest so that these students have the tools and connectivity they need to review AP content online and take the exam.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What will be tested on the 2020 AP Computer Science A exam?&nbsp;<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be tested only on material from Units 1 through 7, so you should be prepared to answer questions on these topics:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unit 1:<\/strong> Primitive Types<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 2:<\/strong> Using Objects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 3:<\/strong> Boolean Expressions and <em>if<\/em> Statements&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 4: <\/strong>Iteration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 5:<\/strong> Writing Classes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 6: <\/strong>Array<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 7:<\/strong> <em>ArrayList<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What will not be tested on the 2020 AP Computer Science A exam?<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You won\u2019t be tested on material from Units 8, 9 and 9.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unit 8:<\/strong> 2D Array&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 9: <\/strong>Inheritance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unit 10:<\/strong> Recursion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are exam question types and sample questions available for the 2020 AP Computer Science A exam?<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The AP Computer Science A exam will consist of <strong>two<\/strong> questions, one on Array and <em>ArrayList<\/em> and one on methods and control structures. Check <a href=\"https:\/\/apcoronavirusupdates.collegeboard.org\/educators\/taking-the-exams\/ap-exam-schedule\">here<\/a> for a description of the questions.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will have 25 minutes to read and respond to the first question and five minutes to upload their response. Then you will have 15 minutes for the second question plus another five minutes to upload their response.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s the 2020 AP Computer Science A exam date and time?<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The College Board is offering two exam dates for each AP exam this year.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AP Computer Science A exam is scheduled for Friday, May 15 at these times:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hawaii Time: 10 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alaska Time: 12 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pacific Time: 1 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mountain Time: 2 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Central Time: 3 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eastern Time: 4 p.m.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The AP Computer Science A make-up exam will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at these times:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hawaii Time: 8 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alaska Time: 10 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pacific Time: 11 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mountain Time: 12 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Central Time: 1 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eastern Time: 2 p.m.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-background-color has-background\"><strong>Note: <\/strong>Unless you have a scheduling conflict, you should plan on taking your AP Computer Science A exam on the primary date.
