I mean \u2026 if<\/em> we\u2019re lucky, the campus bookstore will pay us $5 for a $120 textbook, and if we’re extra\u00a0<\/em>lucky, we might get $20 for it from a friend who needs it desperately. But that\u2019s still $100 spent on a single textbook that we opened maybe 5 times throughout the whole semester . . .<\/p>\n

$18.02 for a textbook that originally costs\u00a0$280.95?\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Not bad (AT ALL)!!!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u27ab But you know what\u2019s even better?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

ECampus happens to be buying the used textbook for $19.24 <\/span><\/strong>(see below), which\u00a0means that\u00a0you would actually be making a profit of\u00a0$0.22<\/span><\/strong> if you were to buy it from Amazon and then sell it to ECampus!<\/p>\n

Awesome, isn\u2019t it?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ve essentially paid nothing for your textbook and<\/em> earned some extra cents\u00a0to put into your piggy bank!<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s now take a look at\u00a0Business Law: Text and Cases<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>another popular textbook on our\u00a0Textbook Save Engine<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

you would go an extra step<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0find out how much<\/b>\u00a0you could sell the textbook back for, if you were to buy it rather than rent it<\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

From the screenshot above, we see that buying the used textbook from Amazon will cost $172.21<\/span><\/strong>, which sounds like a lot (and it is)<\/em>\u00a0but <\/strong>\u2026 the below screenshot shows us\u00a0that\u00a0ECampus is buying the used textbook for $136.50<\/span>!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u27a0 Here\u2019s the catch, if you missed it:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

If you buy\u00a0the used\u00a0textbook\u00a0from Amazon for $172.21\u00a0(instead of renting it from Chegg for $54.48) and then sell\u00a0it to ECampus for\u00a0$136.50, you\u2019d only be paying\u00a0$35.71 for your textbook, saving an extra $18.77.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Still confused?<\/em> Let me draw it out for you:<\/strong><\/h6>\n

\"Make<\/p>\n

Whether you rent the textbook (in which case you would have to return it), or buy it and then sell it, the end result is the same \u2013 you would not have the textbook in your possession.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, for this specific textbook (and for many others), buying it and then selling it, rather than renting it, proves to be a better option.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u27b8 The takeaway?\u00a0Good deals (at first sight) aren\u2019t always the best<\/em> deals. Go the extra step to save\u00a0even more<\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
