{"id":21689,"date":"2017-08-29T17:40:44","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T21:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/?p=21689"},"modified":"2021-05-21T12:07:51","modified_gmt":"2021-05-21T16:07:51","slug":"top-100-universities-post-graduation-liquidity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/blog\/top-100-universities-post-graduation-liquidity\/","title":{"rendered":"The Top 100 Universities in the U.S. Based on Post-Graduation Liquidity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How much money will I have in my wallet 10 years from now?<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> That is a question prospective college students should keep in mind when choosing a school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately, while students have many ways to compare prospective higher education choices, few tools focus on the numbers that matter most, as in, how different a college student\u2019s financial health could be 10 years after attending college A instead of college B. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To address this issue, The University Network (TUN) has created the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School Analysis Tool<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which enables students and their families to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">compare a whole host of data for their higher education choices, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">actual annual cost based on different family income levels;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">post graduation earnings;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">graduation rate;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">retention rate; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">average debt.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, TUN has constructed a few ratios to help students make an apples-to-apples comparison of the schools they want to consider. One of these ratios is the<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Monthly Liquidity Ratio<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which provides a way to compare schools based on the <\/span><strong><em>salary <\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><strong><em>monthly loan payments<\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> students can expect. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To construct the ratio, we used data from the U.S. Department of Education (as of August 28, 2017) showing the median monthly gross earnings 10 years after start of attending school <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">divided by<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the median monthly debt payment that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">graduates with loans<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> experience with a 10-year repayment schedule at a 4.29 percent interest rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We found an average Monthly Liquidity Ratio of 18.2 to one for the 3,352 schools in the U.S. that provided the necessary data. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The higher the ratio, the better it is for students with loans to pay back. Harvard University topped the list at a ratio of 119.3 to one, a little more than 6 times the national average, so Harvard graduates with loans are in much better shape than others. With such a high liquidity ratio, they likely won\u2019t have to worry about how they will make their monthly student loan payments. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[divider]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>The Top 100 Universities in the U.S. Based On Graduates\u2019 Monthly Liquidity Ratios<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tun.com\/schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School Analysis Tool<\/a> makes it easy to compare schools based on available financial data, we have limited the following three <\/span>top 100 lists<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0to schools with a graduation rate of greater than 50 percent and enrollment greater than 500 students: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monthly Liquidity Ratios for the top 100 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 4-year schools;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monthly Liquidity Ratios for the top 100 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">public<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 4-year schools; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monthly Liquidity Ratios for the top 100<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> private<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 4-year schools.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>[divider]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>A.
