Bookmark this page and check back each year!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[divider]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">An interest in law is helpful for this scholarship!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any undergraduate student enrolled in a <strong>four-year college or university program<\/strong> in the United States majoring in one of the following areas may apply: Criminal Justice, Pre-Law Studies,\u00a0English, History, Political Science, Journalism, Communications, Bachelor of Individualized Studies, Sociology.<\/li>\n<li>To be awarded the scholarship, each student must still be enrolled in a four-year college or university program in the upcoming fall semester or be enrolled in a law school. \u00a0Students should not apply for this scholarship if they will graduate from college this spring and will not be enrolled in school in the fall. \u00a0Exceptions will be made for graduating college students who are enrolled in law school for the upcoming fall semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must write an essay between <strong>2,000 and 3,000 words<\/strong> on one of the following topics:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Police conduct is a divisive issue in our country. Do you think police officers should wear body cameras while on patrol? Do you think this will better serve the community?\u00a0Explain your answer.<\/li>\n<li>There are millions of undocumented immigrants\u00a0living in the United States. Should the U.S. Government grant legal status to these individuals, or deport them? Explain your answer.<\/li>\n<li>Do you think our criminal justice system is too hard on defendants? Should mandatory minimum jail sentences be higher or lower for certain offenses such as drug crimes, gun crimes, or DUIs? Explain your answer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must email their completed essay as a word document\u00a0to <a href=\"mailto:scholarship@keyserdefense.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scholarship@keyserdefense.com<\/a>. Essays submitted in any format other than Microsoft Word (such as RTF or PDF) will not be accepted.
