In fact, most people I meet in college are either undeclared or unsure about their current major. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are 3 things you need to understand about the process of choosing a major:<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><b>1. You\u2019re not alone<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So many students feel overwhelmed and start panicking when they don\u2019t have their major decided by their sophomore year. For undecided students, the early years of college are there for you to explore your interests. And you\u2019re not the only one who doesn\u2019t have life figured out. Take a breather and use your time in college wisely.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><b>2. Understand what your major allows you to do<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you pick your major, have a goal that you want to reach. Think about the\u00a0plan you have for the future and how your\u00a0degree can\u00a0help you reach your goal. Do your research. Find out what sort of career paths are available to you because of what you\u2019re studying.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><b>3. You make the major; the major doesn\u2019t make you<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choosing a major is only half the battle. It\u2019s very important to gain experience in your field while you\u2019re still in college. Look out for internships or project opportunities that will further your knowledge. Future employers want to see your academic achievements as well how well you are able to apply what you&#8217;ve learned into real world experiences. Make the most out of your major. Don\u2019t just decide on a major because it sounds impressive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make an informed decision when it comes to deciding on your major. As a journalism student, I hear people question my choice all the time. But with the effort I put into understanding what a degree in journalism can do for me and what I can do with a degree in journalism, it feels like a no-brainer.
