Oh wait, it’s not that tough of a decision. Dak Prescott should remain the Cowboys quarterback for the rest of the season. He has led the Cowboys to a 5-1 start which includes a 30-16 win over a good Packers team at Lambeau field. The rookie who broke the record for the most past attempts without an interception to start a career has looked as poised as any other star quarterback in this league. So why is this still a discussion?

Tony Romo has been a good quarterback for Dallas. However, he’s never won a Super Bowl or even come close in the playoffs. When you couple that with his injury history maybe it’s time for a change. Switching out Prescott could not only hurt his growth as a player but also disrupt the team chemistry of the team this season. “If you are a teammate, and you are in that locker room, you are looking at Tony and you are looking at Dak. And you’re going, ‘Hmmm, I don’t know… He is our leader now,” said hall of famer Michael Strahan during the FOX Pregame show.

The Cowboys might be fearing the unknown. Letting a rookie quarterback take over a team when you have a good veteran quarterback on the bench can be a difficult decision to make. However, this wouldn’t be the first time a quarterback lost his job due to an injury. In 2001, an unproven Tom Brady stepped in for an injured Drew Bledsoe and ended up leading the Patriots to a Super Bowl win that year. Of course, no one’s expecting Prescott to be a player like Tom Brady overnight but the potential is certainly there.

Published: October 17, 2016 Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett have a tough decision to make when Romo returns from his back injury.
